GUIDELINES/FONAMENTS (2025)

Joan Arnau Pàmies presents his new album, Guidelines/Fonaments, which explores the boundaries between composition, improvisation, and experimentation. This music constitutes a new stage in Pàmies’s artistic career, which is marked by constant research and a unique capacity for stylistic synthesis.

Pàmies combines elements of ambient, classical music, sound experimentation, and jazz, creating soundscapes that invite the listener to an introspective and transformative experience. Here improvisation plays an essential role: each piece arises from a predetermined idea, but develops spontaneously, establishing a living dialogue with the present moment.

The show is a unique opportunity to delve into the universe of Pàmies, where the boundaries between genres and traditions are diluted to give rise to music that is deeply personal and connected to the times we live in.

DES DE LA PROFUNDITAT (with Aruán Ortiz) (2022-)

Aruán Ortiz and Joan Arnau Pàmies join forces in DES DE LA PROFUNDITAT (Catalan for “From the Depths”), an original composition based on some of the consequences of global warming. Written for prepared piano, live electronics, and additional instruments, DES DE LA PROFUNDITAT stems from a narrative wherein events such as droughts, extreme temperatures, and floods become major influences of the musical ideas presented throughout the piece.
